NewbornNewborn kits are dependent on their parents and those around them. They can't hear, talk or see. Their eyes are sealed shut and ears folded against their skull. They'll eat constantly and are very sensitive to temperature changes. They more or less just sleep and eat.
Week 1- Hearing will begin to develop though sounds are still muffled. Will begin to purr and hiss around this age. Week 2 - Will begin testing their wobbly legs. Though mostly all they'll be doing is crawling around and being clumsy. Eyes start opening at the end of the week. Sense of hearing is fully developed. Week 3 - Steadier on feet will begin to grow curious and explore a little. Still pretty helpless though, teeth are slowly starting to come in and their vision improves. Week 4- Sight is better, but won't fully develop until later on. By now they should walk just fine if not still be clumsy. Will start being more adventurous, playful and tussling with litter-mates. *All kittens are born with blue eyes. They will have no manes at this point, tufts are fine though. *They make noises and various squeaky mewling sounds. No real gibberish until around the end of four weeks. *Queens name their kits after their appearance, personality, kin or sometimes things around them at the time 1 MoonAt this point in their life kits should be able to walk around with ease. Crouching and other predatory antics will start becoming part of play. Words are likely to be picked up and they may start associating them with things. Like "no" means no and that the camp outside the nursery is someplace interesting. It's possible for them to pick up on names as well too. Gibberish at this age is common but nothing really coherent enough to form solid words.
Week 5 - Baby teeth will start to develop. Week 6 - usually a good time for queens to wean kits *Eyes are still blue *Head manes/tufts are allowed, but no full or half manes. 2 MoonsThey'll be more aware of their surroundings and constantly learning new things. Moving should be no problem and they'll be much more active now. Play fighting and getting into mischief is normal around this age. Gibberish is very common now and they may start trying to pronounce various words. . Small words will star being formed, easy things like "mom, dad, hungry, etc.." Albeit said words will be slurred, garbled and have wrong pronunciations (IE: saying "hungee" for hungry).
*Eyes will still be blue but will hint towards their natural color. *Should have a full set of teeth and more then likely fully weaned. Can eat solid food but may need help ripping it apart. May still try to nurse though. 3 MoonsKits will be trying to say and learn more words and larger phrases. Depending on mobility queens may allow them out of the nursery more often around this time. Exploring will be a common thing and everyday will be an adventure. Words and small phrases should be spoken now, but may still need some help pronouncing certain things. Most phrases will be short and to the point. (IE: "Ah go eetside now." meaning "I go outside now.")
*Eyes will be their natural color by now *Will no longer nurse and be able to eat solid foods 4 MoonsThey'll be growing more curious and adventurous by the day. This is often the time you need to start keeping an eye on them for sneaking off. Speech should be fully understandable by now, with more complicated phrases. It may need some work, but overall it will be easy to understand what a kit means by this point.
*If your kit is going to have any manes or tufts when they age, you better have a head mane by now. Tufts should fully be there now but no arm, back or chest manes will be present. *Will start loosing baby teeth |
5 MoonsKits should start being anxious to become apprentices by now. They'll start trying to learn and pick up things from their fellow clan-mates around camp. They will more then likely get into things and end up in trouble. Their voice by now will begin to slowly mature and may not be quite as squeaky as it was when they were younger. Speech shouldn't be a problem by now at all for normal kits.
*They should be near the height for an apprentice by now. *Leg and back manes may start appearing around this time 6 MoonsKits will be named apprentices now. They'll be assigned their mentor and spend a lot of time away from camp learning what they can. They wont be allowed to be alone outside of camp though. Though they'll begin learning by now, they wont fully grasp hunting techniques and battle combat. Clumsiness is still a thing.
*Any back and leg manes should be grown by now. No full or half manes however. *Should be at the average apprentice size *If interested in being a med app, they should show interest now 7 - 9 MoonsOver time they'll more fully grasp how hunting and patrolling works. They may be allowed to explore outside of camp without their mentors but usually never alone. Fighting tactics should start to flow better over time. Any talents or skills may also pop up now.
*Half chest manes may start forming now. *This is around the time their element is granted 10 - 11 MoonsApprentices will have almost full understand of clan life and the warrior code by now. Stalking and hunting their prey should come with ease as their skills improve. They may take off on their own to hunt often enough but still tag along with their mentors. Combat training should be well and certain skills mastered. Extremely skilled apprentices may become warriors at this point.
*If they're going to have any manes at all they'll be there by now. This includes full and chest manes. *Should be nearing the average adult height. 12 MoonsThis is around the time most apprentices will start being considered into becoming adolescents. Exact age varies from trainee to trainee depending on their skill. Their responsibilities in the clan will grow and often be asked to take on more tasks. After this point forward they will remain their rank and server their clan.
*Any manes will be fully grown by now. *Should be at adult height 100 MoonsIf a cat has lived this long they've already become a senior for some time. They're on their way to becoming an elder. Though the age varies from cat to cat it's up to the cat to decide when they are unable to serve their clan anymore. They spend most of their time sleeping or sharing stories with others in the camp. Some tell stories to the younger tribe members. Older cats are more prone to sickness and aching joints.
*Fur coloring and patterns may become dull or grey with age. |
Character Designs and Colors
We enjoy our members being creative and encourage it! We're generally lenient when it comes to character designs, but do have some guidelines. We prefer the colors of your character be natural. They do not need to be accurately seen on domestic cats, but must be remotely natural. No neon colors, pinks, bright oranges, blue, etc. Colors like shades of brown, white, gray, black, sandy-yellow, ginger, cream, grey-blue are acceptable. Try to avoid having a character with the color of solid black (#000000) on the design however. It tends to be jarring and hides fur textures.
On the topic of patterns we are more lenient, but they must flow well together. Patterns and markings do not need to be seen on domestic cats in real life. As long as the design blends well together and looks well-made, you'll be fine.

Ingame Bios
To help keep things organized and accurate for roleplaying, your in game character bio should contain a few key things. It'll save time for a lot of people and help things continue running smoothly. Your bio does not have to be exact, may be formatted differently and contain other additions. However, it must contain a few certain key things.

Ingame Size Comparisons
Feral HeartThings to keep in Mind:
- The trainee size shown is for older apprentices. About 10 moons. Use your best judgement when thinking about your character's age.
- I've shown the max height for a grown cat here. This includes all cat breeds. So think realistically on how big a Maine coon is (max size) compared to say a normal domestic short hair. - We're more lenient on kit sizes, especially between that time frame between apprenticeship. Use common sense for this in relation to character age. |
